This business is a small version of a big childhood dream ... to live on a ranch & take in
all the neglected animals & children & just have fun all day! Well ... the "big ranch" is near the
405 freeway & none of my the animals have been neglected ... my son, Joseph, may have
come into my life unexpectedly, through a tragic set of events ... but his adoption was finalized
in December 2007, & his days are one big animal party!

Frankly, picking up poop & mopping the floors several times a day isn't exactly fun ... rather, it
is an incidental chore in a day of slobber, bouncing balls, bonked heads, pee on the hard
wood floors, chewed chair legs & flying across the yard to get Joseph who is drinking out of his
shoe that he just dipped in the dog water ... while at the same time keeping the old dogs comfy
& the youngsters (both two legged & four) running off energy 'till they fall asleep in mid air!

I may wake up a couple times nearly every night 'cuz I may have heard a whimper or I am trying
to find a way to turn over in bed in the small area I am left between the dogs, cats & a 3 year
old ... yes, I do wake up tired some mornings, yet there is much to be said about waking up
with a smile on my face as I see that "Franco" has managed to slink up to Joseph's side
(which is now turned with his feet practically on my head) "Dolly" has taken up my foot room &
a couple of cats are on the pillows ... & as my feet hit the floor I see the crib that Joe no longer
uses & remember that I put little "Bebe" in there last night so she would be closer & feel more
secure.

I Choose to see it differently ... to me the freeway sounds like the ocean on Makena Beach ...
the huge & beautiful trees that hide the 30 foot freeway wall are the lush foliage on Kula
mountain at the top of Maui .. & although it has certainly been a while since I have put on a pair
of 3 inch pumps & can't remember the last time I wore a dress (yet I still can't seem to let go of
my collection of ridiculously expensive shoes or my New York, custom made, glove leather,
classic black dress ... in a size 4 ... fat chance!!) ... my wardrobe now consists of jeans or
sweats & T-shirts with silly dog sayings, & brightly colored Crocs now adorn my tired feet ...
there is a pay-off for doing what you love ... my blood pressure, on a bad day, is rarely
over 100/70 & although I may get tired, I never tire of my "work"!

No, it isn't always pretty, rather, it is a labor of love .. & for the most part ... I wouldn't have
it any other way.

What I Love
(besides the obvious!)

~ Nature .. the mechanics of nature ...
untouched by man yet it never keeps him from
trying.
~ Music .. it is nearly impossible for me to sit
still when I hear music! Straight up blues ..
rockin' blues .. classic rock .. jazz .. the sound of
a saxophone or a blues guitar gives me chills!!

My Pet-peeves
(no pun intended)
~ People who don't pull into the CENTER of the
intersection when making a left turn!
~ The Government going on about water
conservation & fines for over use, when on
any given day their sprinklers are spraying
water all over the freeways & 25% of them are
streaming water 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year ( i.e. the 405 frwy on/off ramps @
Roscoe) & as always we pay the price!
~ Pants pockets that you can't put your hand in
all the way & are jut deep enough to lose
anything you do put in them !
OLD NAVY is the worst.
